🏡 HOW MUCH RENT CAN YOU AFFORD?
When applying for a rental property, landlords consider several factors — and income is one of the most important.
Your income can help determine the rental price range you may qualify for. As a general guideline, some landlords look for rent to be no more than approximately 40% of your gross annual income, although every landlord and application is different.
💰 For example:
Annual income: $100,000
40% toward rent: $40,000/year
$40,000 ÷ 12 = $3,333/month
➡️ Based on this guideline, your rental budget could be approximately $3,333 per month.
Keep in mind that landlords may also consider your credit history, employment, references, existing debts and overall strength of the application.
