We are delighted to reveal our new office art installation, created by Carmen Thompson, Tlaa’Kwa Hul’puulth/Copper Moon, a Coast Salish artist. We were honoured to be joined by Carmen, along with her family and community members, to hear the meaning behind the mural and to witness this important work together.

This installation acknowledges the Indigenous Nations whose lands and waters continue to shape the Lower Mainland, and reflects a place of gathering, movement, and exchange that has long been connected by waterways like the Fraser River, Burrard Inlet, and the Salish Sea. Through bold geometric forms and Coast Salish design, the work moves between past and present while centering water as a unifying element. It is also deeply personal, grounded in the artistic teachings of Carmen’s father, master artist Art Thompson, and in the matrilineal teachings of her mother’s Kyuquot lineage. At its heart, the installation speaks to the transmission of story, culture, responsibility, and connection across generations.

We are grateful to Carmen and her family for sharing this work with us, and for reminding us of the importance of carrying these stories forward with care and respect.
