Drupal has been our CMS of choice for its security features and open source community of talent. It was our foundation for the Hong Kong registered IRM Strategies site which then incorporated a sophisticated learning management system.

Time marches on and we are now in the process of shifting our online presence. Check out the new https://gardenoaks.ca

Seems it has been some time since we updated GOFA followers! It has been a busy time.

Last year's opening of our gardens as part of the fundraiser for Victoria Hospice Society coincided with the (Greater) Fernwood Art Stroll. 1000+ visitors and a good time was had by all! And, we said, wow—overwhelming—two events at once—too much.

But, the Victoria Conservatory of Music reached out and next thing you know, an even bigger garden tour—but this year, opting out of the art stroll was a wise move. 1600+ visitors, several musical performances and a very warm vibe throughout.

Garden visitors helped to raise, we estimate, over $70,000 for the Conservatory. Thanks to all who helped to make it happen!

Grateful for the enthusiastic support of three residents of our Garden Oaks Fine Accommodation (GOFA) community volunteering as hosts for the June 7 & 8 Greater Fernwood Art Stroll & Victoria Hospice Society Teeny Tiny Garden Tour —could be four but competing with Snoop Dog in Vancouver, so ...

This is just one example of why we see ourselves as housing providers and generally do not use the landlord/tenant language derived from medieval times. Our vision is one of building community - thanks to all who are a part of it!

Folks have asked why we have furnished suites for long term rental. The simple answer is that we have rented fully equipped spaces ourselves for 7 years in Hong Kong and in total, about 2 years in Bangkok. We knew there was a need--and have discovered since how very important such housing can be.

To name just a few housing needs not met by hotels or the typical unfurnished rental, note: travel nurses; patients for extended treatments; grands supporting newborns for the first months of life; grad student & visiting prof study terms; between house relocations, film & theatre productions; and in our experience, families who become long term Victoria residents after trying out various neighbourhoods.

These are housing needs beyond the most obvious, all equally legitimate. When you need furnished housing, we are here. (Sorry, our unfurnished suites are fully occupied.)

GOFA residences are all just minutes from the nature trail encircling the Cedar Hill Golf Course ... beautiful views, variety in the ups and downs, friendly passersby...and ducks!
