Can your landlord still say no to pets? 🐕

Since 1 May 2026, the rules have changed. Under the Renters' Rights Act, tenants in England now have a legal right to request a pet, and landlords can no longer refuse just because.

Here's what's actually true now 👇

✅ Tenants can request a pet in writing
✅ Landlords must reply in writing within 28 days
✅ A "no" needs a real, property-specific reason
✅ Blanket "no pets" bans are gone
