🚪 A little extra service to make window-cleaning day easier!
Some customers stay home just so they can let me through the side or back gate. You’re always welcome to be there, but you don’t need to rearrange your day around your exterior window clean — all I need is agreed access to the areas being cleaned. 😊
To help make things easier, I’m offering a simple gate latch supplied and fitted for £5 while I’m already at your property for your cleaning visit.
Where suitable, fitting a latch near the top of the gate means I can open it properly and close it behind me, helping avoid awkward access and unnecessary strain on your gate and hinges. The position and access arrangements would always be agreed with you first.
🔧 Gate hinges worn out or needing replacing? I can take a look during your visit and provide a separate quote for that too.
A little about the experience behind Mellors Cleaning Services…
Before running my own business, I worked in a range of hands-on trades: fabricating aluminium windows and doors; repairing uPVC windows, composite doors, conservatories and curtain walling; supervising workshop teams; building flat-pack housing; and installing fencing and gates on new builds. I also previously worked as a gas service engineer.
Over the years, I’ve worked on projects at Preston Bus Station, Preston’s indoor and outdoor markets, UCLan and Lancaster University — and that’s just some of the local work!
Before setting up Mellors, I also worked for a large exterior cleaning company, travelling throughout the North West and into Wales. There’s a lot of practical experience behind the work I do, and that same care and attention goes into looking after your property today.
This little extra service is simply about making access easier, helping protect your gate from avoidable wear and damage, and giving you one less thing to organise on cleaning day.
And of course, if you prefer to be home, that’s absolutely fine too. Your property will receive the same care either way. 👍

🖍️🚐 INTRODUCING MELLORS JUNIOR! 🚐🖍️

I often get little ones watching with interest while I’m cleaning, so I thought it would be nice to have something fun to give them! 😊

I’ve put together three Mellors colouring and activity sheets:

🪟 WINDOW CLEANING — colour the cleaning scene and have a go at the little activities.

💦 PRESSURE WASHING — bring a driveway transformation to life with your favourite colours!

🚐 DESIGN YOUR OWN MELLORS VAN — the van’s side is blank, ready for your own colours, patterns and designs. Let your imagination run wild! 🎨

I’ve also ordered little boxes of crayons to go with them — each containing FOUR DIFFERENT COLOURS, so they can get started straight away! 🖍️

I’ve ordered 100 boxes… so I’m going to need a few budding artists to help me out! 😂

These will be a little FREE extra for customers’ children to enjoy. Once the crayons arrive, just ask me for a colouring pack at your next clean. 💙

I’d love to see their finished artwork, especially their van designs — they might put my own to shame! 🚐😂

Another gutter repair and replacement job completed ✅
On this job we carried out a range of repairs to make sure the guttering was fitted securely and working properly again.
Work completed:
Office area gutter replaced
Missing brackets replaced
Union replaced and fixed correctly in place
Every gutter joint, union and downspout connection checked and corrected where needed
Front left side of the property extended by cutting the gutter and fitting a new union joint
Left side of the building also extended in the same way with a further union joint fitted
We also finished up by cleaning any windows where dirt had got onto the glass, because we take pride in our work and always like to leave the job looking right 👌

🧼 BEFORE & AFTER – GUTTER CLEANING 🧼

Another gutter clean completed by Mellors Cleaning Services ✅

This gutter had a heavy build-up of moss, dirt and debris, which was restricting the flow of rainwater and increasing the risk of overflowing gutters and water running where it shouldn’t.

The gutter was thoroughly cleared out, removing the built-up debris and leaving the channel clean and flowing properly again. 🌧️

Another exterior maintenance job completed in Preston ✅

This one involved much more than simply cleaning algae from the brickwork.

The property had been suffering from water affecting the external wall, which had contributed to significant green algae growth around the brickwork and rainwater system.

We started on Saturday by professionally treating the affected brickwork to remove the algae and organic growth, followed by a thorough clean-water rinse. The wall was then left for several days to dry properly before the next stage of work began.

On Monday, temporary scaffold access was installed so the higher-level repairs and protective work could be carried out safely and correctly.

🔧 Work carried out included:

• Professional algae treatment and thorough rinse of the affected brickwork
• Brickwork allowed sufficient drying time before protection was applied
• Stormdry breathable masonry protection applied to help reduce future rainwater pe*******on
• Existing rainwater system inspected and issues from the previous installation rectified
• Larger and more suitable hopper installed to improve water collection and flow
• New downpipe and associated fittings installed and securely fixed
• Pipework positioned and checked to ensure correct alignment and drainage
• Existing metal wall brace inspected where significant gaps were found between the steelwork and masonry
• Loose material cleaned out from around the brace
• Deeper voids filled and the perimeter carefully made good with mortar to help reduce the risk of water penetrating behind the brace
• Drainage area at ground level cleared of weeds, debris and loose material
• Weed-control membrane installed around the drainage area
• Existing stone reinstated to help keep the outlet area clear and reduce the chance of future blockages

The difference in the brickwork after treatment was fantastic, but the important part of this job was not simply making the wall look cleaner.

We also worked to identify and rectify the areas that could have been contributing to the moisture problem, improve the rainwater drainage and then protect the affected masonry afterwards.

A much cleaner wall, improved rainwater management and preventative work carried out to help reduce the likelihood of the same problems returning. 👌

The new system is being introduced gradually, so when it reaches your round, you’ll receive your own secure customer portal login details.

Through your portal, you’ll be able to:
