Fall decorating isn't really about decorating for a season, it's about creating a feeling. Below are 6 steps to give your home a fall refresh–for under $100!
1. Add one cozy throw — $20–$30
Look for warm, autumnal colors like rust, cream, chocolate brown or muted plaid. Drape it casually over a sofa, accent chair or the end of your bed. The goal is cozy—not “I decorated for fall.”
2. Change 1–2 pillow covers — $15–$20
You don't need an entirely new pillow collection. Simply use pillow covers with a little more texture and warmth on pillows you already have. This saves money and storage space!
3. Bring in natural elements — $10–$15
This might be dried eucalyptus, pinecones, a small arrangement of mums or even a bowl of apples. Put them in something you already own, like a beautiful pitcher or vase.
4. Add ONE or TWO statement pumpkins — $10–$15
Try ceramic, wood, woven, velvet or stone rather than buying several small orange pumpkins. Vary the height and texture and group them together on a console, coffee table, or mantel.
5. Enhance your lighting — $10–$20
This one is underrated. Use warm-toned bulbs, add a small lamp, or bring out a couple of candles. Then turn OFF the overhead lights. A room with warm, layered lighting instantly feels more inviting and autumnal.
6. Shop your house — FREE
Move a lamp. Bring a basket into the living room. Stack some books. Pull a chair closer to the fireplace. Sometimes your house doesn't need more things, it just needs to be rearranged.
