This griddle was a lost cause on paper. Rust, grime, and years of “I’ll clean it later” baked right in. So we started where we always start: pressure washing it back to bare metal.
But here’s the thing about a restoration. Step one is the loud, satisfying part. The rest is where the magic happens:
1. Pressure wash (this video)
2. Oven cleaner to cut the carbon
3. Sand it down smooth
4. Reseason it into a slick, black, ready-to-cook surface
By the time we’re done, this thing cooks like the day it left the store.
