I am fortunate enough to get to help people every day with their real estate dreams by guiding them with advice and education through the process of buying and selling. Having lived in Oregon well over half of my life I would c

onsider myself a native. Before moving to Central Oregon in 2010 my wife and I lived in Tennessee where new home construction was the family business. Personally, working in both fields of construction and selling new homes gives me an advantage when working with my clients. Completion of advanced training courses has earned designations as a Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) and Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) by the National Assn of Realtors. SRES training deals with meeting the needs of maturing Americans when buying, selling, relocating or investing in real estate. ABR courses focus on home buyers’ needs and how to best serve them in the home buying process. I love Central Oregon and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. My passions include playing and coaching in the local hockey community, spending time on the various rivers and lakes with a fly rod in my hand and of course spending quality time with my wife and two young children.

Bend is high desert, less than 12 inches of rain a year and almost 300 days of sunshine. Summers hit the 80’s, winters stay mild, and we get about 27 inches of snow.

If you’re used to the 80 mph chaos of an LA freeway or the bumper-to-bumper stress of Seattle, driving in Bend might feel like you’ve accidentally hit the "slow-motion" button.

There’s a reason you see professional runners, cyclists, and triathletes flocking to Bend every year. It isn’t just the views, it’s the altitude.

At roughly 3,623 feet, Bend sits in that "sweet spot" for training.

Here’s the science behind the 'Bend Lung': When you train at altitude, your body has to work harder to deliver oxygen to your muscles because the air is "thinner." Over time, your system becomes more efficient, increasing your red blood cell count.

The Result? When you head down to sea level for a race or a game, you feel like you have a third lung. You’re faster, your endurance is higher, and you can push harder for longer. It’s basically nature’s version of a cheat code.

But be warned: If you just moved here, that first "easy" jog around the Old Mill might leave you gasping! Give your body a couple of weeks to acclimate, drink twice as much water as you think you need, and embrace the burn.
