I didn’t expect to love San Sebastián as much as I did, but I really, really did!!

You may not know this, but Boise has one of the highest concentrations of Basque people outside of the Basque Country. In a strange way, it felt familiar, like Boise and the Mediterranean had a very well educated child. 🌆🌃

Of course, I looked at real estate… and by Spanish standards, prices are actually quite high.

Here’s what stood out to me from a property perspective:

1️⃣ Price Perception

What you’re really buying is:
• Scarcity (coastal location + historic preservation)
• Lifestyle density
• Walkability
• Global tourism demand

In Boise, $900K buys you space. ↔️ In San Sebastián, $900K buys you location.

2️⃣ Appreciation Culture

In Spain, property tends to be viewed as legacy. ↔️ In the U.S., real estate is often about momentum, even though the average hold time has nearly doubled over the past decade. 🏠

Right now, buying in San Sebastián feels generational.
Buying in Boise feels growth oriented.

Both build wealth 💴 They just do it differently.
