Baltimore’s legacy as a hub of world maritime history will be front and center when the city plays its part in celebrating America’s 250th birthday later this month.
Fourteen tall ships from around the world, including places as far away as India, Romania and the United Kingdom, are expected to highlight a week of anniversary commemorations in and around the Inner Harbor between June 24 and 30.
As many as 200,000 visitors are expected to have the opportunity to board each of the 14 ships and to interact with a total of 40 vessels — and to look overhead to take in an unprecedented airshow — as part of the festivities known as SAIL250 Maryland & Airshow Baltimore, event organizers said.
