Colorado Throwback: The Gum Tree at Old Elitch Gardens ๐ณ๐ฌ
If you grew up going to the original Elitch Gardens, you probably remember one of its strangest traditionsโthe famous Gum Tree. Located near the Log Ride, generations of visitors added their chewed gum to the tree, turning it into one of Colorado's most unforgettable (and admittedly gross!) landmarks.
Fun Fact: The Gum Tree wasn't something the park createdโit happened naturally as guests began sticking their gum to the tree year after year. Eventually, it became a quirky tradition and a must-see stop for visitors. When Elitch Gardens moved downtown in 1995, the beloved Gum Tree stayed behind with the original park.
๐ I can still remember walking by the Gum Tree every time we rode the Log Ride. It was one of those weird Colorado traditions that everyone had to see. Looking back, it was kind of gross... but it was also part of what made the old Elitch's so special. Those memories will always make me smile.
๐ Who remembers the Gum Tree? Did you add your piece of gum, or were you like me and just stopped to stare at it? ๐๐ณ
