Today, I find myself remembering September 11, 2001, a day I was across the country for, but one I remember as clearly as if it were yesterday.
For years, I had wanted to visit the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. In December 2025, I finally had that opportunity, and getting to experience it with my daughter made it even more meaningful. She was just 1½ years old on 9/11, so she has no memory of that day, while I carry memories of it that will never fade.
The Memorial was at the very top of my must do list during our trip, and it did not disappoint. We spent more than four hours there taking in the sounds, the images, the personal belongings, and the stories of survivors and those who were at Ground Zero. There was so much to absorb, and so much to feel.
It was incredibly sad and deeply humbling. Standing there, surrounded by the history and the stories of so many lives forever changed, made the enormity of that day feel very real.
I left with an even deeper appreciation for the lives that were lost, the families who were forever changed, the survivors, and the countless first responders and others who showed extraordinary courage.
It is an experience I will never forget, and one I am grateful I was able to share with my daughter.
Today, I remember. ❤️🇺🇸
Never forget.
