Another +90 ° day in the Greater Eugene area has us all trying to stay cool. So here are 5 ways to help chill your home out (and maybe save on that electric bill) during these hot summer days!
1. The most obvious: keep blinds and curtains closed during the hottest part of the day, especially on South and West facing windows. 🪟
2. Get your laundry and dishwashers started early, or hold off until night time to avoid generating extra heat. 🧺
3. Check and replace your AC units filters. You can also clean outdoor units’ condensers with gentle water from a hose. Just be careful with the fins! 🧊
4. Make sure your ceiling fans are set to spin counter clockwise. This will push the air downward and make the room feel cooler. Like an AC, be sure to keep those fan blades clean too! 💨
5. And lastly, if you’re leaving for work or running errands, set your thermostat a few degrees higher instead of turning the A/C off completely. It’s usually easier on the system to maintain a temperature than to cool the house back down from scratch. 🌡️
There you have it! If you or anyone you know has any questions regarding your home, I can answer. Stay Hydrated!
