Here is what is really scary this Fall, PGE is asking for its 8th consecutive rate hike. If approved, it would add $65.6 million a year to bills starting in July 2027 (approximately $8 per month to everyone’s bill).
📈 There’s been a 50% increase in utility costs across Oregon’s 3 biggest utilities in the last 5 years
💵 PGE is asking for 3.9% increase, which would go into effect July 2027
🚮 A significant portion of the increase is for slush fund reserves, premature meter updates and to cushion PGE profits
☹️ In 2024, 70,000 utility customers in Oregon were disconnected because they could not afford their bills
☹️ In 2025, another 72,000 utility customers were disconnected

Submit public comment to the Oregon Public Utility Commission, who will ultimately decide whether to approve the hike. Comments received by the December 1 deadline will be reviewed by staff and included in their opening testimony.
