A low appraisal simply means the home was valued lower than the agreed purchase price, but there are still several ways buyers and sellers can move forward together.

Here are 5 common options:

1️⃣ Renegotiate the price
The seller may agree to lower the price to match the appraised value.

2️⃣ Buyer brings additional cash
The buyer can choose to cover the difference out of pocket.

3️⃣ Challenge the appraisal
If important comps or information were missed, the lender may request a reconsideration of value.
