Housing is the foundation of strong communities and today marks an important milestone in addressing our nation's housing affordability crisis.
Affirmed Housing was honored to join Rep. Scott Peters, the San Diego Housing Federation, the Regional Task Force on Homelessness, the San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council, and many other housing leaders at The Helm—an Affirmed Housing mixed-income affordable housing community—to discuss the significance of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, bipartisan legislation that represents meaningful progress toward expanding our nation's housing supply.
As our President, Jimmy Silverwood, shared during the press conference:
"The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act takes a meaningful step toward addressing what is fundamentally a housing supply problem by making it faster, more predictable, and more cost-effective to build the homes our communities need. At Affirmed Housing, we see every day through communities like The Helm that when you increase the supply of affordable housing, you reduce pressure across the broader housing market and create real pathways out of homelessness."
This legislation reflects an important federal commitment to reducing barriers to housing development, accelerating the production of affordable homes, and creating stronger pathways for families to access safe, stable housing.
No single organization can solve the housing crisis alone. Progress happens when elected leaders, housing providers, labor, service organizations, and community partners work together toward a common goal.
