I'm still very new to the game of soccer, but I've really enjoyed learning as much as I can over the last four years. My knowledge and understanding of the game have grown tremendously.

In the beginning, I knew very little. I was mostly able to connect the dots through my extensive basketball background. There are a lot of similarities between the two sports, but there are some major differences as well.

I've always been a curious person, and with that comes a genuine love of learning new things. But I also have a very special 10-year-old soccer player of my own who has kicked me into rocket booster mode to better support, coach, and help her whenever needed.

By leaning heavily on resources, friends, and mentors around me, combined with my love and understanding of team sports, I've truly grown to love the game. I'm still growing, but I'm much more knowledgeable now about the skills, tactics, and all the little things that make soccer great.

Basketball will always have my heart, but I've caught myself referring to basketball shoes as "boots" more than once lately.

As we get excited for today's match, I couldn't help but think about how much this journey parallels my career in real estate.

Residential buying and selling is my passion, my basketball. But learning and growing on the commercial side over the last three or four years has been nothing short of amazing. Just like soccer, I couldn't do it without the support of the people around me.

There are tons of similarities between residential and commercial real estate, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to relationships and taking care of people.

Whether it's sports or real estate, nothing good happens without hard work, passion, teamwork, and practice.

Now let's go get a win.

If you're planning to buy a home this summer, this might be one of the best things you'll hear:

You don't have to rush.

There are more options out there, which means you can actually take time to find the right fit for your family instead of settling for what's available.

No panic. No pressure.

Just a chance to make a smart decision at your pace.

If buying is already on your radar this year, that's a pretty good place to be.

One thing I keep watching in our market…

How much of our inventory is actually designed for TODAY’S families?

Right now there are:
• 540 four-bedroom ranch homes on the market
• 211 of those are 2 bedrooms up / 2 bedrooms down
• 125 have 1,600+ sq ft on the main level
• 102 have a 3-car attached garage
• Every one of those 102 homes is priced above $444,900

Here’s what’s interesting to me…

These are BIG homes with BIG price tags… but many of them really only fit a certain stage of life.

For families with younger kids, the 2 up / 2 down layout can be tough.
Most parents want young kids close by — not downstairs.

And what usually happens?
Bedroom #2 upstairs becomes the office anyway.

So now you’ve got a large, expensive home that really functions best for:
• families with older kids
• empty nesters hosting guests
• or buyers planning long term

But are buyers thinking that far ahead when purchasing today?

That’s the question I keep coming back to.

Are we building too much of a niche product?
Or will this style continue to get absorbed no matter what?

Curious what others are seeing. Builders, agents, buyers — what do you think?

Find me a better home in Waukee under $400k…

This one is clean, solid, well cared for, and completely ready to go. Great location, great space, and no major projects waiting for you after closing.

Good homes at this price point don’t last long in Waukee for a reason. If you want to get in and take a look, let me know.

This 2,000+ SF two-story home just a short walk from Wauk...
