To my rugby family,
I’ve been reflecting a lot after spending time with a few of you this weekend (in Montreal), especially after watching Archie get his first real glimpse of the community during his time in Banff with the Halifax Tars Rugby It brought everything back.
Rugby people really are the salt of the earth. You’re the kind of crew who would literally give the shirt off your back, but also step up and throw down without a second thought if it ever came to it. That kind of loyalty is rare, and it’s something you don’t fully appreciate until you’ve lived it.
I spent my 20s chasing rugby wherever I could find it. It took me to incredible places, introduced me to the absolute best people, and fundamentally shaped the person I am today. It’s never just been a sport—it’s a way of life.
Seeing Archie start to form those same kinds of deep, genuine friendships through this game is a massive full-circle moment for me. Knowing he’s stepping into a world backed by the same incredible community that raised me means more than I can easily put into words.
Thank you all for being a part of my journey, for keeping the spirit of this game alive, and for welcoming the next generation with open arms. Cheers to the memories we’ve made, and to the ones Archie is just starting to build.
