🗞️ The rate cut story for 2026 has flipped. Money markets are now pricing in hikes by year-end off the back of oil price pressure from the US-Iran conflict.

Scotiabank and National Bank are both calling increases before December. On the ground I’m already seeing it… buyers with pre-approvals moving, agents telling me they’re under accepted offer with backups in place, and fewer listings hitting the market than this time last year.

The window where rates are here, prices are down 5 to 10% year over year, and competition is still light is not going to stay open indefinitely. A pre-approval locks in today’s rate.
