If you purchased a home as your primary residence, don’t miss out on property tax savings!

✅ Deadline to apply: July 1st

To qualify, you must:
• Own and occupy the home as your primary residence
• Be an Iowa resident and file Iowa income taxes
• Live in the home at least 6 months each year
• Not claim a homestead benefit on another Iowa property

The best part is that you only need to file once. As long as you remain eligible, the credit continues automatically from year to year.

For homeowners 65 and older, there may be an additional homestead exemption available as well.

If your application is submitted after July 1, it will apply to the following assessment year instead of the current one.
