Date nights around Metro Detroit, always having a book in progress, Michigan fall slowly making its comeback, family nights on the patio + getting to make one of my favorite phone calls: “you got the house.” 🏡

If I were buying a home in Metro Detroit right now, I wouldn’t be looking for the prettiest kitchen.

I’d be paying attention to the things that are a whole lot harder or impossible to change.

The street. The lot. The natural light. The view from the windows. How close the neighbors feel. Whether I actually like the neighborhood and can picture my everyday life there.

Give me good bones, a location I love, and a house that needs a little updating over a perfectly renovated house in the wrong spot.

Paint can change. Countertops can change. A dated bathroom can change.

Where your house sits? Not so much.

And after walking through a lot of homes with buyers, I’ve learned that the things people fall in love with long-term usually aren’t the things that photographed best in the listing.
