Valentine’s Day is always kinda blah for me, so I try to do something small to brighten my day.

I usually stop at Kroger for flowers, but since I recently moved to the city—right here in the 05—I decided to check out Sunrise Mart, a new grocery store right down the road. I stopped in for breakfast on my way to work and was surprised to find they had flowers too! Even better, they come from a local, women-owned business called The Petal Shop.

For years, I’ve lived on the southwest side of Fort Wayne, and this is the first time I’ve been able to walk into a cute little neighborhood market like this. It might not seem like a big deal, but having something like this so close really makes the city feel like home.

For any of my friends looking for fresh flowers or just wanting to support something new in town, go check them out! I had to grab them after seeing the cute extra details of fanned butcher paper and hand tied ribbons on the bouquets 🎀 This isn’t a paid post—just a little love for a place and vendors that deserve it. They didn’t have a ton left, but the girl mentioned they were bringing in holiday arrangements tomorrow I believe. Let’s show them how much we in the community appreciates small businesses like this!
