I think most Angelenos would say fall is their favorite time of year in Los Angeles. Do you agree?

Cooler weather (ignore the last few weeks 😉), good food, football, a little rain, October baseball (here’s lookin’ at you, Dodger fans), and plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy the city. Fall may look a little different here, but that’s part of what makes L.A. L.A.

If you’re looking for Saturday night plans, the Hammer Museum has a good one.

Four new exhibitions, live music in the courtyard, and food and drinks - all part of the museum’s Fall Exhibitions Celebration. It’s free, it’s open to the public, and it’s happening right here in Westwood from 8 - 10:30 p.m.

It’s the kind of local energy that makes a neighborhood a great place to call home.

🌡️Wow, temps are rising, but so is the fun this weekend. Yes, it’s going to be a hot weekend ahead, but worth getting out for these three:

🌳 Saturday, 10/3, head to Montana Ave (7th to 17th) from 11am-6pm for the Art Walk - this year’s a special one, marking 100 years of Route 66 through local art. Free, all ages, easy stroll.

🥨 Same day, swing over to Third Street Promenade from 1-6pm for Oktoberfest - live polka, German food and b**r, stein-hoisting, the works. Also free.

🌮 Then Sunday, 10/4, head to Tito’s Tacos from 4-9pm (a Team Bremner favorite 👍 ) for Culver City’s annual taco party ahead of National Taco Day, with food, live music, and good vibes. Proceeds go to the Culver City Arts Foundation, so you’re supporting local arts while you eat.

🥵 Fall officially started, but someone forgot to tell the weather. See you out there - don’t forget the sunscreen!

Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 3rd, from 10 AM to 2 PM - the Friends of the Westwood Branch Library are hosting their book sale at 1246 Glendon Ave.

There’s a good mix of gently used books - kids’ books, art books, a little of everything - all priced to move. Proceeds go straight back into programming at the Westwood Branch. Parking’s validated.

If you love this neighborhood as much as we do, this is exactly the kind of local event worth showing up for. Bring the kids, grab a few reads, and support a library that’s part of what makes Westwood feel like a real community.

🍂 FALL IS OFFICIALLY IN THE AIR IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!

If you think L.A. doesn’t do autumn, think again. I know, I know - no leaves changing color on every block. But if you know where to look, autumn is very much a thing out here. A few spots we’d actually recommend this year:

Big Bear Lake - Worth the drive up if you want real mountain air. Pine Knot Trail is turning gold right now. Grab a b**r at Big Bear Lake Brewing Co. after, or stay the night at Noble + Proper if you want to make a weekend of it.

Tanaka Farms (Irvine) - Corn maze, wagon ride, pick your own pumpkin. Classic fall day. One tip: book weekend parking ahead of time or you’ll be circling the lot.

Descanso Gardens (La Cañada Flintridge) - Their fall event, Carved, runs nightly Oct 2 through Nov 1. Hundreds of lit jack-o’-lanterns along the garden paths. Go on a weeknight if you can - it’s a lot less crowded.

ROW DTLA - Pickwick Vintage Show sets up here regularly with 50+ vendors of vintage clothing and jewelry.

Cinespia at Hollywood Forever - Bring a blanket, dress warm. This October’s Halloween lineup includes Co**se Bride, Carrie, Jennifer’s Body, and The Thing on select nights, projected right on the mausoleum wall.

Universal Studios Hollywood - If actual scares are more your speed, Halloween Horror Nights is running select nights through November 1.
