Our buildings’ brands are not created for launch or for marketing materials, but as extensions of their context, their character, and their capacity to gather a community. They operate as organizing ideas that align collaborators, articulate a project’s identity, and carry through to how each building is experienced over time.

Memorial Day marks the start of the Hamptons season. We’re heading out east as the first wave of the city follows – houses reopen, terraces fill, and summer life begins again.

We stroll through the world’s most famous urban park with at the turning point between spring and summer, soaking in the atmosphere of Memorial Day weekend. Designed in the 1850s by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, Central Park was conceived to offer New Yorkers a rare sense of openness, respite and shared beauty within the intensity of the city.

From railing to skyscraper, metal underpins New York. Wrought iron defines the threshold of the stoop, its scrollwork animating brownstone façades. Cast iron enabled the rapid, precise construction of SoHo’s ornate industrial buildings, and steel then made the city vertical, forming the structural skeleton of its skyline.

Today, that lineage is enjoying a resurgence, with wrought iron and stainless steel appearing across contemporary architecture and interiors, celebrated once again for their sculptural presence.

The term blueprint comes from a 19th-century printing process used to reproduce architectural drawings. Paper coated with light-sensitive iron salts was exposed to sunlight beneath a translucent drawing. Where the light reached the paper, a deep blue pigment, known as Prussian blue, formed, leaving the drawn lines white. The technique offered architects a reliable way to duplicate plans and share them with builders, engineers and contractors. Though the process has long been replaced by digital tools, the word blueprint still lingers in the language of architecture and everyday speech.

Architectural drawings remain the starting point for every building. They are where decisions about the unit mix begin, used to study how spaces connect, how homes relate to one another, and how people will ultimately live within the building. Together with our partners, these drawings evolve into the detailed plans that guide the building from concept to construction.
