I recently drove past a house in Japan that I hadn't seen in more than 30 years. My grandparents lived there, and suddenly I was remembering all these little things from childhood: the narrow wooden stairs, visits with my grandmother, and even walking down the street to the community bathhouse.

The house has fallen into disrepair now, and my aunt is preparing to sell it, but it made me think about how much life can happen inside four walls.
