It started with a farmhouse taking shape.

Walls went up. The pool opened. Gardens grew. And little by little, the places imagined for gathering became the places where neighbors actually gather over dinner, around the pool, after a walk through the farm or simply because someone pulled up a chair.

Looking back at the Farmhouse under construction makes us especially grateful for what Chickahominy Falls has become today, a nationally award-winning 55+ agrihood where the amenities are beautiful, but what happens within them matters even more.

And we’re still growing. The new Fieldhouse, a second pool and pickleball courts are coming soon, adding even more ways to spend a day together.

A little tradition. A little imagination. And plenty of good company.

This week, the Chickahominy Falls Art Guild welcomed Richmond fiber artist and quilter Karen Middleton for an afternoon devoted to the art of seeing familiar things in a fresh way. Karen shared how she takes traditional quilting forms and reimagines them in unexpected ways, bringing her own perspective, creativity and sense of play to every piece.

Members of the Chickahominy Falls Quilt Club joined the Art Guild for the gathering, filling the room with fellow makers, curious minds and the kind of conversation that tends to happen when people with shared interests find one another.

Last week looked a little like this. Neighbors gathered, glasses were poured, dinner came by way of the food truck, and another late-summer evening unfolded among friends.

This Sunday, August 30, The Conscious Table arrives at Woodside Farms for an evening centered around the season, the harvest, and the simple pleasure of gathering over a beautiful meal.
